Peach

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in thick, cracked, dark gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is light brown.

The small bunches of branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with small amounts of miniature, long, narrow leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are yellow at the bottom and peach with vivid blue lines at the top.

In early spring, it produces several small, amber blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like leather.

In late summer it produces small, stiff, pointed fruit. The rubbery light grey skin is stretchy and slightly sour, and the soft light grey flesh is bitter and spicy and very dry. The faded yellow seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
