Indigo Vine

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 191 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many knobbly, slanted stems covered in delicate, wrinkled, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are short and slender that and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, asymmetrical, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are faded green on the edges and beige at the center, hardy and leathery.

In late summer it produces dozens of giant, indigo flowers with spear shaped petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like old books.
