Magenta
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small caudiciform grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. The wide stem is brown, and is covered in brittle yellow spines. It has a twisting, stocky, light grey trunk atop a stocky stilted platform of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are wide and magenta and are short and thick.
The jagged-edged, spiral leaves are yellow-green with turquoise tips. They are tough, and detach easily.
It is steady-growing, taking 17 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid brown petals decorated with vivid orange lines and a azure central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like bonfire smoke.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the gold flesh is soft, and the orange sap is thin.
The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
