This copper moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps On rotten logs, In marshes, and In rainforests.
It is average-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is slightly flimsy.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release millions of spores.

It can grow in even the most barren lands.
