Pinkfruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in silky, dark green bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale yellow.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of miniature, sickle shaped leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid pink with dark grey streaks.

In early spring, it produces clusters of giant, azure blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like roses.

In late autumn it produces , asymmetrical fruit. The fuzzy slate skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy lilac flesh is salty and very juicy. The crimson seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
