Purple Spine Succulent

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 56 feet (17.1 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is pastel purple, and is covered in many fine, caramel, hair-like spines. It has a straight, flat, blood red trunk atop a thick ball of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are wide and emerald and are short, thin and wispy.

The smooth-edged, sickle shaped leaves are light grey and faded red. They are flimsy, but do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 50 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are either grey or magenta, with a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 9 petals in raised layers. It has an overpowering scent that smells like fruity.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the black flesh is rubbery, and the orange sap is thin.
