Black Moss

This black moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps On trees, In bogs, and In damp forests.
It is large, growing up to 8 inches (20 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps are exceptionally hardy, and is slightly sturdy.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release dozens of spores.
