Mahogany

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 30 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many flexible, wavy stems covered in silky, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, oblong, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are green and black, sturdy and fuzzy.

In late summer it produces hundreds of medium-sized, purple flowers with long, tapering petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like cinnamon.
