Copper Lilac Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 4 fan-like stems. Each stem is copper, and is covered in sharp spines. The spherical body is green, and is covered in hundreds of flexible lilac spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 41 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with solid white petals decorated with purple dots and a cyan central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 7 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. It has an overpowering scent that smells like rainy days.

The cactus's skin is thick, the gold flesh is waxy, and the blood red sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

It can flourish even in standing water.
The pollen is extremely toxic to people but not to certain animals.
