Copperfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in delicate, waxy, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is copper-coloured.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of huge, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are grey on the sides and amber at the center.

In early spring, it produces clusters of small, magenta blossoms with 7 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like apple.

In mid-summer it produces very large, spear-shaped fruit. The fuzzy turquoise skin is tough and inedible, and the soft grey flesh is sweet and dry. The caramel seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It can survive a long time without water.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
