Blood Rose Succulent
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This small leaf succulent grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The perforated stem is gray-green, and is covered in handfuls of flexible blood red spines. The ripped-edged, pleated leaves are blue on the edges and lilac at the center. Copious amounts of them grow from the base like rose petals. The leaves are delicate, but are very difficult to pull away.
It is very slow growing, taking 33 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of white and aquamarine, with a cyan central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of 17 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like rotten meat.
The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the azure flesh is slimy, and the red sap is thin.
