Indigo Tree

This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 98 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in delicate, wrinkled, black bark, and inside, the very dense wood is dark brown.

The tangled mess of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of sticky, huge, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid vivid yellow or indigo, with black streaks.

In late summer it forms large, bronze seed pods.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
