Turquoise Tatterbloom

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) tall. Its turquoise stem is very thick and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, green leaves are slender, pointed with tattered edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 14 cm (5.5 inches) wide, with alternating petals of white and aquamarine, with a cyan central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 43 curved petals. They fall easily.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like burning wood, and it has lots of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.
