Blacktwig

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This enormous shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for around 32 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many narrow, straight stems covered in delicate, silky, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, very narrow and elongated, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in cream and beige varieties, hardy and sticky.

It produces copious amounts of giant, ashy green flowers with finger-like petals. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like roses. In late summer it forms medium-sizedcream, spiky-shelled seeds.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
