Copperbark

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 46 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of narrow, curved stems covered in thick, ridged, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are very short and slender that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, needle-like, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either subtle red, or lilac with copper patches, resistant and leathery.

In mid-summer it produces a thick sheet of small, faded orange flowers with finger-like petals. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like garlic.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
