This orange moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas In marshes, and In heathlands.
It is big, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is extremely resilient.
When mature, emerald V-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release millions of spores.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It can survive a very long time without water.
The leaves are high in natural sugars.
