Copperfern

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 112 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many branched, twisting stems covered in hard, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are short stubs with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of small, sickle shaped, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to bronze at the top, rigid and sticky.

It produces dozens of medium-sized, pink flowers with circular petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like paint. In late summer it forms medium-sizedcyan berries.
