Crimson Succulent

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 40 feet (12.2 meters) tall. The perforated stem is dark grey, and is covered in sharp spines. The round, crimson trunk can grow to as much as 40 feet (12.2 meters) in diameter. Its silver branches are very long, thin and wispy.

The jagged-edged, perforated leaves are amber on the edges and white at the center. They are flimsy, but take some effort to detach.

It is quick growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid grey petals and a white central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of 15 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like marzipan.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the turquoise flesh is soft, and the dark grey sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
