Magenta

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 21 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several flexible, curved stems covered in thick, cracked, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are very long and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of large, wispy, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are brown and magenta, frail and leathery.

In late summer it produces lots of giant, peach blossoms with oval-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like perfume.

In mid-autumn finger-like fruits ripen. The soft aquamarine skin is thick and edible when roasted; it is very salty, and the very soft olive flesh is spicy and very juicy. The caramel seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.
