Blue Fruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, wonky trunk covered in thin, smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The branches are very long and thin and are covered with small bunches of large, stiff, pointed leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue and amber.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, amber blossoms with broad, flat petals. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like garlic.

In early winter it produces , 9 pointed fruit. The rough purple skin is thin and inedible, and the soft blue flesh is salty and very juicy. The hazel seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
