Bloodfern

This small flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 8 and are thin and straight, and split into several branching stems halfway up, and the small, red leaves are needle-like with jagged edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

Each stem splits 3 to 9 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 7 cm (2.8 inches) wide, with olive petals and a blood red central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 44 curved petals. They are very delicate.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like candle wax, and it has copious amounts of pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
