Clinging Mahogany
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized tree grows up to 36 meters (118.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 103 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, slanted trunk covered in smooth, black bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is mahogany-coloured.
The sparse amount of branches are short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of waxy, large, wispy leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are crimson on the sides and yellow at the center.
In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, indigo blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like perfume.
In late summer it forms giant, beige, tough-shelled seeds.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
