Copperleaf

This short leaf succulent grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The spear shaped stem is copper, and is covered in sharp spines. The bubbly leaves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to gold at the top. Large amounts of them grow on thin, green branches that trail down across the ground. The leaves are light, but take some effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 32 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are turquoise at the sides and purple at the center grows at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 54 raised narrow petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like lavender.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the peach flesh is waxy, and the white sap is thin.
