Aquamarine

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. Its green stem is very thin, and the miniature, pink-red leaves are long, narrow with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 7 cm (2.8 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of aquamarine. The flower head is largely flat with 20 widely spaced round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like mango, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
