Copperfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 64 feet (19.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 84 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, angular trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, brown-green bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.

The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of small, asymmetrical leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are generally light brown.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, deep green blossoms with broad, flat petals. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like pine needles.

In early winter it produces , fan-like fruit. The rough beige skin is tough and edible when roasted; it is extremely sour, and the soft copper flesh is sour and very juicy. The olive seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

Several parts of the cactus have medicinal properties.
