Copperfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in thin, cracked, dark brown bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow.

The abundance of branches are very long and thick and are covered with copious amounts of large, wide leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are copper on the sides and purple at the center.

In early spring, it produces bunches of medium-sized, bronze blossoms with perforated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like citrus.

In late summer it produces large, paw-shaped fruit. The sticky yellow skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is extremely sour, and the crunchy copper flesh is sweet and sticky. The crimson seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
