Indigo Petal

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) tall. Its copper stem is very thick, and the miniature, yellow leaves are light brown on the underside and are very thin with wavy edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

4 to 7 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with solid light purple petals and an indigo central disk. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of 19 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has the faintest scent that smells like fish, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
