Crimson Succulent

This small caudiciform grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The fan-like stem is burgundy, and is covered in brittle hazel spines. It has a slanted, stumpy, bronze trunk atop a round mess of knobbly, exposed roots. The branches are bulbous and orange and trail down to the ground.

The toothed-edged, wispy leaves are either magenta, or blood red with crimson zig-zags. They are strong, and detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with dark grey petals and a violet central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 25 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has an intense scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the cyan flesh is sticky, and the violet sap is thin.
