Bloodwillow

This large shrub grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for around 87 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several wide, angular stems covered in cracked, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, spear shaped, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are black at the bottom and amber with intense purple zig-zags at the top, robust and clammy.

In mid-summer it produces a handful of large, blood red flowers with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like lemon.
