Crimson Pine

This large shrub grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for around 35 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous slender, crooked stems covered in rough, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with small amounts of tiny, very thick, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are blood red on the sides and crimson at the center, light and fuzzy.

In early spring it produces several giant, orange flowers with finger-like petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like cheese.
