Crimson Spine Cactus

This short cactus grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is yellow, and is covered in hundreds of rigid crimson spines. The spherical body is red, and is covered in thick bunches of fine, red, hair-like spines.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid hazel petals decorated with black dots and a gold central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 25 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. It has an overpowering scent that smells like sugar.

The cactus's skin is thin, the lime flesh is sticky, and the slate sap is thin.
