Copperleaf

This small leaf succulent grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The perforated stem is red, and is covered in thick bunches of rigid amber spines. The smooth-edged, very thin leaves are olive with black tips. Copious amounts of them grow from the base in a loosely patterned way. The leaves are rigid, but easily come away when pulled.

It is steady-growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid light brown petals decorated with hazel dots and a bright blue central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 51 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like old shoes.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the bronze flesh is smooth, and the silver sap is thin.
