Bronzeberry

This big fruit tree grows up to 33 feet (10.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in cracked, brown-green bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pine-coloured.

The numerous branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with handfuls of tiny, spear shaped leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are moss green with bright orange tips.

In early spring, it produces thousands of large, gold blossoms with perforated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like wet dog.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, finger-like fruit. The soft bronze skin is thin and spicy, and the soft turquoise flesh is overwhelmingly sweet and very juicy. The cream seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
