Beige Cupflower

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its gray stems grow in bunches of 4 and are very thin and straight, and the tiny, light brown leaves are white on the underside and are circular with ripped edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 8 cm (3.1 inches) wide, with petals that are generally beige; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a cup with 35 raised, round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like cotton, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
