Bloodvine

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 60 feet (18.3 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is moss green, and is covered in large amounts of flexible blood red spines. It has a angular, stocky, brown trunk atop a bulbous clump of knobbly, exposed roots. The branches are round and yellow-green and are long and slender.

The rounded-edged, stiff, pointed leaves are beige on the sides and black at the center. They are flexible, but take little effort to detach.

It is slow growing, taking 21 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid pink petals decorated with black lines and a dark yellow central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 50 widely spaced narrow petals. It has an intense scent that smells like old shoes.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the amber flesh is slimy, and the yellow sap is thin.
