Bloodfire Shrub
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 38 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has numerous narrow, straight stems covered in thick, waxy, dark green bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.
The branches are short, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, circular, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either brilliant red, or beige with black edges, delicate and sticky.
In mid-summer it produces hundreds of medium-sized, blood red flowers with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like cheap aftershave.
