Aquamarine Fruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 66 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in ridged, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of large, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are olive with lime tips.

In early spring, it produces a handful of large, peach blossoms with broad, flat petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In late summer it produces tiny, circular fruit. The waxy cream skin is delicate and sweet, and the slightly crunchy aquamarine flesh is sweet and spicy and powdery. The black seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
