Blood Red

This big flower grows up to 2.4 feet (74 cm) tall. Its green stem is thin, and the small, green leaves are perforated with serrated edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Each stem splits 5 to 7 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with blood red petals on the lower layer and turquoise petals decorated with hazel dots on the inner layer. The central disk is caramel. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. They are hardy.

It has a soft scent that smells like cheap aftershave, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
