Copperleaf

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This small leaf succulent grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The narrow stem is copper, and is covered in brittle blood red spines. The knobbly leaves are blood red and yellow. Large amounts of them grow on very thick, moss green branches that trail down across the ground. The leaves are robust, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is quick growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of gold and blood red, with an azure central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of dozens of widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a soft scent that smells like a newborn baby.

The leaf succulent's skin is delicate, the crimson flesh is soft, and the dark brown sap is thin.

The leaves are high in natural sugars.
It can flourish even in standing water.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
