Clinging Silktree

This huge fruit tree grows up to 56 feet (17.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in thick, silky, light gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black with white speckles.

The abundance of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, very thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in turquoise, gold and copper varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, azure blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like petrol.

In early winter it produces , pleated fruit. The fuzzy white skin is tough and spicy, and the very soft cream flesh is slightly salty and juicy. The orange seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
