Caramel

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 21 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in fine, rough, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is dark brown.

The branches are short and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of small, needle-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid caramel or lilac, with black zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, cyan blossoms with needle-like petals. They detach easily and have no scent.

In early winter it produces large, needle-like fruit. The fuzzy pink skin is thin and spicy and savoury, and the very soft olive flesh is sour and savoury and syrupy. The dull red seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
