Bronze

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in thin, cracked, gray bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with very large amounts of huge, circular leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in bronze and gold varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, blue blossoms with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like perfume.

In early autumn it produces , oblong fruit. The rough slate skin is thick and spicy and savoury, and the crunchy olive flesh is spicy and juicy. The dull red seeds are large and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
