Ashy Red

This large shrub grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 101 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of wide, wavy stems covered in ridged, brown-green bark, and the wood inside is white with black speckles.

The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of small, long, narrow, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are emerald with beige tips, light and covered in fine hairs.

It produces many giant, ashy red flowers with cylindrical shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like rotten egg. In late winter it forms medium-sizedwhite seed pods.
