Burgundy Smokeflower

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 14 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several branched, straight stems covered in thick, knobbly, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of small, slender, pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are peach at the bottom and deep purple with beige patches at the top, rigid and leathery.

In late summer it produces many bunches of large, lilac flowers with cylindrical shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like cigarette smoke.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
