This copper moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In rainy mountain ranges.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is very light; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release hundred of spores.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
