Crimson Vine

This massive vine is a very slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 760 feet (231.6 meters) and growing as high as 439 feet (133.8 meters). It prefers to grow on man-made objects.

It takes 44 years for the red stems to mature, by which point they each have a diameter of 4.4 feet (1.3 meters) and are hard and brittle.

The wide, leathery leaves reach up to 2.5 feet (76 cm) in length. They are solid purple or amber, with blood red zig-zags, and have jagged edges.

During late spring, the vine produces copious amounts of small caramel flowers, and during the early winter, after flowering, it produces copious amounts of small seed pods.
