Bluebell

This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its olive or yellow stem is very thin, and the tiny, olive or lilac leaves are white on the underside and are long, narrow with wavy edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Around 90 large flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with solid blue petals and a subtle yellow central disk. The flower head is shaped like a tube made up of dozens of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like pot-purri, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.
