Bloodgrass

Grass type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This short, purple grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The 5 pointed stalks grow in thin clumps that are strong and they are exceptionally hardy.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a large, blood red spikelet.

During the mid-autumn, it produces very little pollen, and after flowering, it is left with excessive amounts of giant grains.

The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
