Crimson Spine Cactus

This small cactus grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The narrow stem is gray, and is covered in brittle crimson spines. The round body is crimson and caramel, and is covered in handfuls of flexible white spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of blue and blood red, with a blood red central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 10 years. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 9 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like roses.

The cactus's skin is thin, the beige flesh is smooth, and the intense red sap is thin.
