Burgundy Spike Cactus

This small cactus grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is brown, and is covered in dozens of flexible light grey spines. The cuboid body is burgundy, and is dotted with small red spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are either silver or white, with a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 9 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like leather.

The cactus's skin is extremely thick, the vibrant orange flesh is slimy, and the vivid green sap is thin.
